Make your own reusable Swiffer duster!

Crafty gal Merwing has a terrific pattern for making your own reusable Swiffer duster. How cool is this?! I love the ease of Swiffers but I hate throwing away crap that I know was made unsustainably in the first place. I'm definitely going to make one of these and revel in the fact that I only have to pay for it once AND that I can just throw it in the wash when it's icky. Thanks, merwing!

Ok, how old and boring does it make me that I think this is totally COOL?! I'm always tempted by the Swiffer dusters when I'm in the cleaning products aisle, but never quite made it over to the dark side (eco-guilt aside, I didn't feel like stuffing their corporate pockets by buying a disposable product ;).

I know! Count me in as old and boring, too - making reusable stuff like this is so fun! Merwing has another photo in her Flickr of a reusable cover for the Swiffer floor sweeper thingie, too, and though she didn't make instructions for that one, it looks pretty easy to figure out. This is a perfect use for the fleece remnants they always have in the bins at Joann. :D
