Ack! The season finale of Carnivale was more frustrating than I expected. Usually when things aren't all wrapped up neatly it doesn't bother me at all - in fact I kinda like it. But so many more loose ends than I thought. Helluva cool scene where Ben cut his throat! Can't wait for next season - wonder when that'll be. I haven't decided whether I'm going to watch that angel thing or not. It's got Pacino, but it looks potentially preachy. Mucho busy-ness this week, but lots of fun. Cute Downstate Boy came up on Thanksgiving night and that was lotsa fun - finally watched 28 Days Later, which kicked ass. Of course it did, though: zombies! PunkPants came up last night and we watched Secretary. I'd seen it before but it's one of those that's equally interesting the second time. Also had dinner with AndyDood last night at Mountaintown. I think I am forming a habit of their cheese ale soup. Damn! I simply cannot get enough.

I've really been going to town on scarves the past coupla days. Making progress on the ol' xmas list, yahoo! Pics to come soon. I'm loving these size 17 needles Sistrah got for me for my bday, they make everything knit up so nice and quick. They work really easily with the eyelash yarn, too. Snow stuck for the first time this year yesterday, so it's officially the right weather for all these goodies I've been knitting. Finally getting to meet up with Cute Downstate Boy Formerly Known as Safety Pin Boy later this week, can't wait. I met him once a long time ago and he had a safety pin through one of his piercings (this was in the era prior to when piercings got all popular and mainstream) so hence the nickname.

Finished the black hat w/red star tonight (still no pics available - soon!) and finished up a Bernat Boa scarf in Ostrich I started at Stitch N Bitch on Thursday night. I was feelin' a bit too much of last night still with me today (tho it was fun as hell as always), so I decided to stay in and be productive. Watched a cool show on tattoos and other body modifications on the National Geographic Channel, took a nap, and then watched Auto Focus on HBO. It was good but not great - more okay than good, even. Willem Dafoe is always good but overall the movie didn't do that much for me.
Was feeling a bit introspective this evening, a bit melancholy even, I think due mostly to the fact that I've been hanging out a lot with friends who are couples lately. I miss that feeling of couple-ness, that stability and knowing that they've got yer back regardless. Of course my friends have my back, but it's different. I don't miss Boy in particular, just that couple-y feeling. And I don't think I'd be particularly interested if I were offered the chance to be a couple with any of the guys I currently have available to me. The desire for couple-induced security isn't as strong as my desire to do whatever I want with whomever and whenever. Not nearly.

Spent the morning cataloging while listening to a random assortment of CDs culled from the recently returned/waiting to be shelved shelf. It's been a damn long time since I listened to Nerf Herder, and I'd forgotten how enjoyable some of their songs are. "Sorry" is so much fun I'd almost want to cover it:
Sorry we broke up, sorry I missed you
Sorry I wanted only to kiss you
Sorry I promised to love you forever
Made you feel guilty oh when you left me
Sorry I showed up at your party
Sorry I drank up all the Bacardi
Sorry I puked up on your bedspread
Sorry I wanted to be your boyfriend again
What can I do?
It's over it's over it's over it's over
What can I do?
I am the loser
Sorry I saw you and I heard birds sing
Sorry I touched you and I heard bells ring
Sorry I jacked off outside of your window
While you were sleeping, I thought you'd never know
Sorry I showed up at your wedding
Sorry I tried so hard to get in
Sorry I screwed up your picture
Sorry I had sex with your sister
What can I do?
It's over, it's over, it's over, it's over
What can I do?
I am the loser
Sorry we broke up, sorry I missed you
Sorry I wanted only to kiss you
Sorry I promised to love you forever
Made you feel guilty oh when you left me
Sorry I showed up at your dinner
Sorry I said those things to your father
Sorry I crashed through your window on acid
Sorry I made a mess
Sorry I bled to death
What can I do?
It's over it's over it's over it's over
What can I do?
I am the loser
And "Van Halen" is of course the classic one hit that actually made it to radio. I also listened to The White Stripes' Elephant which was about what I expected - not even close to enjoyable. I actually liked some things from White Blood Cells, but Elephant is just Terrible. More proof that most music critics are bullshit peddlers just looking for a dick to suck.

Woo! Finally finished the fuzzy black scarf today on my lunch hour. I'm out of camera batteries so the photos will have to wait for now.
I got started on a hat of my own design tonight - I'm venturing into the world of making it up as I go along, which feels pretty at-home. I'm making a black hat with a red star on it, something easy so hopefully it'll go smoothly and then I can work on making a skull design. I've emailed with a couple of other knitting folks who blog and have done skull projects before. None of their patterns are exactly what I'm looking for but I think they'll be good inspiration and a jumping-off point for me to make my own design.
Showed the lyrics for the song I wrote on Sunday night to my bandmates and another friend and the reaction was very positive. Yay! It's so hard for me to get inspired to write a whole song's worth of lyrics for some reason. I think I just need to have a buttload (perhaps cuntload is a better term in this instance?) of inspiration. In this case, delayed/denied gratification is a good muse (as it was with my big seduction song 'Come With Me' which has proven to be pretty durn popular) (well, as it was - delayed - when I wrote that song - later when I had the opportunity I figgered out that I didn't want the object of that desire, but that is a whole 'nother issue of said desire having two distinct personalities). Cannot wait for Skatey-Eight to make our triumphant return to playing out! We had a sweet-ass practice last night, way tighter than it should've been considering how long it's been since we've hit it.

Another fucking great weekend.
Tonight I almost finished the fuzzy black scarf while watching The Simpsons and Carnivale, but didn't quite make it. It'll probably take me another ten minutes, but for tonight I'm done. Next I'm going to do some scarves with the sweet yarn I got for my bday, finally. I have been putting it off because of that wonderful anticipation. Knowing that something fun and new is waiting for me is almost better than the actual thing itself. Almost. Speaking of wonderful anticipation, I had a really awesome dream last night that was the embodiment of that concept. My dreams were weird in that they weren't weird at all, they were just like real life and nothing messed up was happening. Slipped in there was One Of Those Dreams, a delightful surprise. It was also very realistic in that it involved a hot friend sneaking in and sneaking upstairs and then with the getting all awesome, all of this being something that would not be unusual or unwelcome. I actually wrote a song out of it this evening, it was so good. Mmm. Back to my point, which was that this dream was the result of that wonderful anticipation - in this case anticipation that shouldn't be indulged due to various worldly circumstances - anticipation which apparently built up enough to come to dreamy fruition. Okay, I'm utterly exhausted and this is coming out way more innuendo-laden than even I intended, which I think means it's time to wrap it up.

Last night we had Jack Gantos (this link'll be working in about a week or so) at the 'brary for a couple of programs. The turnout was dismal - both embarrassing and disappointing - but he was utterly gracious and the people who did attend had a great time. People in this community like to complain about there not being anything to do, but then when something is going on, you never see them there. At least (in the past) I've seen that it isn't just us (at the 'brary). And what a fun time. We went out to Mountaintown to have a few after his second program and had some great conversation. So much fun.

Oh my freakin' god! I am out of breath I'm so excited - I got an email today letting me know I've been appointed to the 2005 Caldecott Committee. Wheeeeee!

Well, dammit. It looks like I just missed finding out about these kickass librarian shirts in time to get one.

They're showing the old episodes of the D on HBO, yay. I hadn't heard they were, so it was a nice surprise. Tonight they showed Inspirado and Angel in Disguise and I got the black fuzzy scarf about half done. I finished up a hat earlier tonight and then decided I hate it, so I'm gonna be unraveling it soon. I was hating it all the way through but wanted to finish it to make sure. I'm thinking that I'll get some more of this fuzzy black yarn and use it for another scarf but adding another yarn with it - perhaps a ribbon yarn. I think it'd make a nice combination with something of a bright color. Heard that The Red Shift are playing at Rubbles Saturday so I'd like to go - depends on other weekend plans. They were a lot of fun when we played with them so I'm betting it'll be a good show.

Had another indescribeably good weekend. Satan's surprise party was kickass and last night's Casualties/Dropkick Murphys show was so much fun. Got to stay at Spades' and Kitkat's cute house on Friday with Bak2drinkin Chris which was also mucho awesome-o. I'm getting all spoiled with so much socializing. Didn't get any knitting done again, but I did get to stop at the shop in Okemos and picked up some double pointed needles so I can do hats properly now (last time I finished the hat with pieces of a wire hanger I chopped up - but it worked in a pinch dammit), and also got some nice wool yarn for another helix hat. Is almost time for the Simpsons, so I'm off to get some actual knitting done while relaxing with the pooches.

I added a bio page on the left column with more details about myself. A couple of you who read this asked for more info, so there ya go. If you don't see what you were looking for, ask more specifically.

The party last night was kungfu fun. Sister and Bro-in-law came over early and did the decorating, which made it a lot easier for my still-recovering-from-Friday self. Satan and Rose, Spades and KitKat, a friend of theirs and Friendster Fella all stayed over and we all enjoyed ourselves quite a lot. Knuckles and Leslie came up, too, which was awesome. Many drinks and good conversations were shared. As always I'm left with the wish that I lived in the same city as these folks, but it looks like I'll be in Lansing next weekend. Yay!

Whew, was without handy Internet access for most of the week. Didn't get much knitting or much of anything else non-conference related done while I was there, either. Last night was Grifter's last show. I still can't wrap my head around that. They tore it up appropriately and we all had a kickass night. Now I'm in need of a nap before the party at my casa tonight.
