doowackadoowackadoo

Finished a hat and scarf the other day:

On other news, I spent four straight hours today reading Caldecott potentials. My eyes are bugging out of my head.

o joy!

I broke down and bought an electric toothbrush. The verdict is in: definitely worth the $12!

It's got a timer that goes off every minute which makes me feel like I'm doing a good job of brushing as much as I should. My teeth and gums feel really clean, too. Woot all around.

attention anyone in Michigan!

As part of the Michigan Library Association's strategic planning process, Traverse Management Resources is conducting an online survey to gather as much input as possible about the future mission and roles of the Association, and to validate feedback received during the focus groups that were held around the state last month.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to complete this survey, which can be found at:

http://websurveyor.net/wsb.dll/18835/mlaplan.htm

TMR would like to receive responses from non-MLA members as well, and are encouraging us to pass the link along through any distributions
lists you may have.

**Please note that the survey will be available online until November 24.**

Thank you for participating in our strategic planning efforts!

mittens galore

So I finally sat down and taught myself how to knit mittens. Now I'm on a big mitten kick.

Here's a set for a little one. I don't really like the yarn (Caron Jewel Box in Tigereye) - I've found that I dislike working with chenille yarns - but I think the set turned out well overall:

Some really pretty ones done on too large a needle for the weight of the yarn (Lion Brand Homespun in Delft - they're a bit looser than I'd like:

So then I decided to combine two strands of that yarn (Lion Brand Homespun in Deco and Prairie) and that worked much better. Here in Michigan it gets so cold, so in my book mittens need to be airtight:

A pair in one of my favorite yarns (Red Heart Light & Lofty in Pheasant):

And finally, a scarf for a child. At work we're doing the annual Adopt-a-Family for xmas and our family this year has two daughters. I'm going to be doing sets for both (hat, scarf, and mittens) - here's one of the scarves (this one in Red Heart Bright & Lofty in Licorice with Lion Brand Fun Fur in Hot Pink trim):
