WildCharger

WildCharger

Of course, you have to purchase adapters that hook into each of your gadgets, and who knows how much the whole set-up will cost. I've recently become aware of how many chargers we have plugged in throughout the house, and each of those keeps drawing energy even when the gadget isn't attached, so something like this would be great in that it'd only be one thing to unplug each morning (saving energy and time).

I just discovered Merlin Mann's 5ives. How did I just now find it? Seems like something I should've known about already. I love lists!

My favorite so far is from January 16, 2007:

Five nouns to which I enjoy prepending an unnecessary definite article

1. The Flickr
2. The AIM
3. The Jesus
4. The Google
5. The El NiƱo

The awesome.

like paper

Hitachi Maxell, LTD, has created the thinnest DVD media yet. 1/13th the thickness of current DVDs is pretty durn impressive.

Indexed

Jessica Hagy makes charts, graphs, and such on index cards, and posts them at Indexed. They cover a wide variety of topics and range from hilarious observations to it-takes-awhile thinkers. Recommended.

AquaDom

This is one of the sites in Germany that I have not visited (last time I was in Berlin, it was 2001 and this didn't exist yet, not that I necessarily would've found myself at the Radisson). It's the AquaDom, the world's largest cylindrical aquarium, at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin. It certainly looks impressive from these photos.

I bet this goes on Susan's travel wishlist.

I love the concept of using creative barcodes appropriate to particular collections. Kudos to Walking Paper and Librarian in Black for picking up on this and channeling it into such a neat idea.

gather 'round for a story

It doesn't look like the most comfortable seat ever, but I love the concept of this family reading chair.

For Sale

Dracula's Castle
Originally uploaded by annethelibrarian.
Apparently, should one be so inclined, and should one have a spare $78 million sitting around, one could own Dracula's Castle.

I can't say I'd want to buy it, but I would love to visit.

Liebrary board game

Liebrary board game

Though I don't think the name is as clever as it's trying to be, this game looks like it could be fun. I'm a big fan of Balderdash (and the free version we played in high school using just a dictionary), and this is essentially a book-centered version of that.

Weird: who knew that Daryl Hannah was interested in board games?

Tony vs. Paul

Word on the street is that these days, kids do stuff like this in the free time we used to use for building forts and whatnot. This is damn sweet!

Metal Pen by Grand Illusions

This pen uses no ink and supposedly works just as well after 25 years of use as it does new. It seems that the tip would have to wear down eventually, but I suppose it would take a long time. From the test bits I saw online, it looks like the writing is more pencil-esque than I would care for. Still pretty neat, tho.

Biographies Have Never Been Easier

Since I got my MacBook, I've looked at the Comic Life program repeatedly, thinking that I should really do something with it. Well, someone else did something pretty fantastic with it, namely the folks at Saint Joseph County Public Library. Time to get to work and use this as inspiration!

BookSling

I'm not usually one to write in books (most of the books I read are library books, so that's a good thing) but I would find this exceedingly handy for keeping a pen with my knitting notebook at all times. Potentially worth a try.

science=craft

If the interwebs has taught me anything, it's that there are a whole lotta creative people out there and their creativity takes shape in ways I never would've imagined. There are some mega creative scientists who are using craft to illustrate really complicated mathematical concepts. The idea that I could potentially create one of these otherwise completely inscrutable thingies by following instructions I already know how to understand truly boggles my mind.
