Well, I'll be...

I listened to Radio Free Burrito episode 7 today and in it there was a bumper from a women named DrJ. So I trotted on over to her site and took a look. Nice place, apparently she is/was a scientist (I think a chemist) living in Germany (Australian by birth). Her profile says she is in for a career change, but I'm not sure if that will happen or has happened. So having eaten my Wheaties I commented on her blog. Later today she came and visited here (hi DrJ) and commented that she had just finished reading the book I'm reading (The Other End of the Leash) which I am finding fascinating and I recommend it to anyone who has a canine companion, well behaved or not. Now I'm feeling the need to connect to things lately so I notice the following things we have in common. Science, time on the planet, embroidery, dogs, German (well in that that my Mom teaches it), Australia (in that I've always wanted to go there, SCUBA dive the GBR, baby!). Anyway, by merely posting to my blog, DrJ seems to have sparked my brain into a flurry of questions. I pondered putting them in a comment on my blog, or her blog. And then I decided to just put them in their very own post and then if she wants to answer them, bully for me.

What breed of dog do you have?
How old is s/he?
What kind of science do/did you participate in?
What are you doing now?
What brought you to Germany?
How long did it take you to adjust to the massive shift in weather from one to the other?
What sort of embroidery do you do?

Well, that's it, who knows, maybe we will get to learn more about DrJ. However, she should feel free to not answer any question she feels she would rather not, or to not answer any of them. In fact there is no guarantee she will come back at all. So anyone else who is reading this should feel free to make up questions of their own and answer them. Won't this be fun?

So I was reading the site of this Dr. J. Did you read this one? Don't read this if you are eating.

Ooh a list of questions! This is like being tagged, umm, without being....

My dog is a mongrel. We got him from the lost dogs home. He´s probably a Beagle/bassett/staffy mix we think. Photos are on Flickr, take your best guess.

We think he´s about 4. Not sure though ´cause he was found. He was probably beaten up as he´s missing teeth, a chunk is gone out of his tongue, had broken ribs and is terrified of cellars.

I am a biochemist by training, but spent many years doing protein crystallography. (My husband´s the chemist).

Right now I´m trying to convince my husband to look for a job in Oz. I´m moving towards tech transfer/business development and just finsihed an internship in that. Right now I´m concentrating on starting a cross stitch design business (as a bit of a side job for the future) and writing. And enjoying the free days.

The Phd brought me to Germany. The man got me stuck.

I don´t think you can ever adjust to months of below zero temperatures. I certainly haven´t.

I´m designing cross stitch and do it as well, but most embroidery is stumpwork and goldwork. I also like blackwork.

So now, as I haven´t yet gone through your archives, I throw those questions back at ya....ok, except maybe the Germany ones....

I'm down with Staffordshire Terrier/Bassett. That was one of the 'games' we played daily at the humane society. Every time a stray came in it was "Guess That Breed!"
