He was a goofy guy, sure, but his passion for wildlife was apparent to all. And he made it contagious. From what I understand, he did a lot for conservation and wildlife awareness, too. And you know he's up in heaven right now giving some seraphim quite a shock: "Crikey! Look at this, mate, it's like a snake, but he's got six wings and eyes all 'round 'im. Now let's flip 'im over and see if he's a boy or a girl." :-) RIP Steve.

The weird thing is that he was killed by a stingray... a death suffered by only 14 people since the 1920s. The venom from a stingray isn't likely to kill you. Getting kit in the heart (which he was) is really unlikely but far more likely to cause death.
