Invasion
On Henry's beer brewing blog (check it out - he won a silver medal at a local homebrew festival!) he included the OOTS style avatars for the Blogtet. I thought that was a pretty sweet idea, so I'm trying it out on my blog. What do you think?

Yo ho!
Roland and I enjoy a web comic call the Order of the Stick. At the site they also have a forum, I mean who doesn't these days, where people discuss the comic, D&D, and just about everything else you can imagine. One of the quirks of the site is that people have taken to making avatars that resemble the characters of the OOTS. This is where all the blog-tets avatars came from. However, being the nerdly type gamers that they are the peeps over at OOTS also change their avatars from time to time to reflect holidays, life changes, etc. (now you know Roland and I fit right in). Being as yesterday was Talk Like a Pirate Day there was a rush of pirate themed avatars. The dude who drew mine is one of the best there is, Chris the Pontifex. He was kind enough to update mine to be piratey!

I love how she looks like she's daring you to ask how far up the peg leg goes.

Shannatar
Shannon asked for an avatar and Roland was kind enough to ask one of the best, Chris the Pontifex. He totally rules the avatar drawing and is has a wicked awesome portfolio. He kindly obliged with this:

And as an added bonus sent along this:

I love the stroller and an in awe of his ability to create drawings like this. You rule Chris!

Back in Black
Henry posted a comment about the new trend in South Park avatars, coming so close on the heels of the OOTS avatars and all. I think my sister put her South Park one up on her website, but I think I'm sticking with my OOTS version. I like the South Park one and might use it sort of intermittently for a little variety, but I like that Bleys is in the OOTS one with me. That makes it more me. Plus the OOTS avatars actually require some talent to make (talent I do not in any way possess), while the South Park avatars merely require time (which I have in abundance). But just so Henry could have a little variety if he so desires I put together this:
To be honest I have no idea what sort of facial hair he is sporting now, but I was always I fan of the goatee. The ACDC shirt: self explanatory. Also notice he is holding not one but TWO kinds of beer, showing his fierce love of all things hoppy (and I'm not talking about rabbits).

Just Jason
And for Jason we have four options:
For everday use we have simply, Jason (hmmm maybe I should add an ipod?):
For special occasions we have, Burgerwhop Jason (for some reason they don't have any chair slats or burgers):

Your wish...

Okay Anne how about this one? They also have an anarchy symbol for the shirt, but I kind of liked the skull. I wasn't sure you wanted a lipsticky mouth so I didn't give you one, but if you wanted a more feminine mouth I could change it. I also considered giving you an open (singing type) mouth, but then didn't. What do you think?

Good times...
One of the first things Roland introduced me to was his love of Roger Zelazny, especially his Amber series . I fell in love with these books at once (although Night in Lonesome October takes a close second) and have since re-read them countless times. Other people love these books as well and often draw what they think the trumps would look like. I find these interesting. Probably because I would like to be able to do the same, but have no talent for drawing, something I lament often. Anyway, I came across the best set of trumps today. You will have to scroll down to the June 06, 2005 entry as I was unable to link directly. I thought they were hilarious and then of course I had to go play with the make-your-own thing myself.
and then I couldn't resist making one for Roland...

My, wasn't that fun?

It's ME!
Anne asked my about my cool new avatar and where I got it. Well, Roland could explain it better, but there is this very funny D&D related online comic called the Order of the Stick(OOTS) which are stick figures made in some paint kind of program. They also have a message board area of the website that has people talking about role playing, this comic, other comics, all sort of stuff. One of the threads there is called Arts and Crafts where people who are talented that way like to show off the OOTS type avatars they have made. They will also take requests from us less talented folk and Roland asked for one that was like me. So voila, there I am and with Bleys no less. I like it a lot and think it's awesome.
