Thoughtful hearts

Katie just updated her blog with some adorable movies of Charlotte (who may or may not be a rubber ducky cannibal) and directed people to Charlotte Central - your source for ridiculously cute baby pictures. Amongst the photos found there were some of Charlotte in a dress I made! I'm so geeked, so here they are for you to check out. After which you should go check out the rest of the pictures.

Moms

Most of my pictures from Marcie's shower didn't turn out very well (too much back light now matter which way I turned), but I did get a nice one of Mom C. and my Mom. It's a little washed out but I don't have photoshop on the laptop to try and fix it so that will have to wait until I get back to my desktop.

Skeletons

I have officially been rocked. The Sk88 show on Friday was awesome and I had a really good time. I really dig some of their tunes (usually the ones Anne sings are my favorites) and their cover of Don't Take Your Guns to Town is awesome. I just wish I could be one tenth as cool as Anne. It was kind of a bummer that we couldn't stay for the Burning Bushes (who I've never actually gotten to see), but by the time Sk88 finished it was already 1 and we still had to drive back to Big Rapids so we could leave from there the next morning to get to Muskegon for Marcie's baby shower.

The shower went very well and I had a good time. We had all the awesome shower/open house type food; little potato roll sandwiches, pasta salad, chips/vegetables and Mom's-super-awesome-dill-dip, and whatnot. The cake was delicious and the people seemed to be having a good time. Then today we had the Bollenbach (Dave's Mom's side) Christmas get together. It was orginally planned for next Saturday, but it turns out Dave's cousin April is gratuating from Western that day (go April!). It was a pretty full house at somewhere around 20 people with a scruptious meal involving Grandma Bettie's dumplings. We have the next week to hang out here in Muskegon and then we have the Cleveland (Dave's Dad's side) Christmas next Sunday. I'm hoping that we will be able to get ahold of Chad this week so we can see him and his family. Ooh and maybe we can sneak in another time to see Laura and Ryan.

Now?

Now that the Baker's have their little girl I keep wanting to call and congratulate them. But I can't figure out how to pick a good time. Babies being what they are and all, any given moment might be when Charlotte or Katie just got to sleep, or are in the middle of a nap. Katie mentioned the she was looking forward to catching up on a little sleep after she finished up work and before the baby came, but then she had the baby all of two days after she stopped working. Not much time to catch up. I guess I'll stick to adding another congratulations here. So...Congratulations!

Realization

For those of you who don't know Katie and her husband are some friends from Michigan who are expecting in November. They decided, for reasons of their own, not to tell people what the sex of the baby is. Super cool. Then, today, she posted on her blog about a project she was working on. She decided to sew up a little baby outfit. Sweet. I've been trying to get other people to sew for years so I can have someone to talk to about it. She chatted merrily about getting the supplies and the frustrations of learning how to sew from a pattern (especially one from Burda where the translated instructions aren't always the best). Then she posted pictures of the cute little dress. What? Dress. Oh crap, does she know what she just did? What should I do? Do I comment on the dress and how cute it is (it totally is), or do I email her and say something about letting the cat out of the bag? I take a deep breath and wait until Roland comes home. He says, just give her a call. All righty. I grab Roland's phone (because he has the number in there and I don't have it in my phone) and call her up. She isn't home and I leave a message, but she does call me back later. We had a wonderful far ranging conversation about all sorts of stuff including her little sewing project. I finally just ask if she really meant to give away the gender of her child. She gets very confused. Then she figures out that she forgot to mention one little thing in her post. The outfit isn't for herself. It is a present for another friend who is having a girl in a few months.

Near..........Far

I received an email from Shannon (who is doing a great job) today. They are pregnant! She and Rhonda have been trying* for a few months and it looks like they were successful, although they did have to resort to getting Rhonda all drugged up. They are going to be some of the best parents, when Shannon would hold Ava it was just so natural for her to be holding a baby. It just looked...right. Sometime I wonder what is wrong with me that I don't seem to want that part of what would normally be a woman's life. I could handle and even direct (somewhat) the sarcasm and hormone induced stupidity of high school students, but I have nothing when it comes to the young ones. They say its different when they are yours, but I don't know. Plus how does one ever afford the little buggers? Here in south Florida we can't even afford a simple starter house. I feel like we have gone backwards in our life path by living in a apartment. Don't get me wrong its a really nice apartment (it should be for the price) with a nice staff and many amenities, but its just not the same. It just...doesn't have stairs.

*The source of possibly some of the most hilarious stories ever told, I would try to tell them but I couldn't do it justice they only work when told by Shannon (while furiously blushing).
