Duck!

Tagged by Alien Ted.

The first rule of the game is to post the rules of the game. Here they are:

* Each player starts with eight random facts/habits.
* People who are tagged need to write posts on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

1. I have very sensitive eyes. I usually have at least one bottle of eye drops on me at all times. I even have a brand preference.

2. I now blow dry my dog after a bath. He doesn't care for it. Feel free to shake your head at me on this one. His allergies since moving to Florida are a lot worse and leaving him wet leads to all sorts of biting and itching and possibly a trip to the vet.

3. My favorite genres for reading are sci-fi and fantasy. I also enjoy the occasional romance novel (although it is a bit difficult to find the ones that are written well enough to stomach) they are perfect for reading by the pool or at the beach. I blame Kate Leggett for this habit.

4. I would really like to try a new hair style, but am too chicken to do it. Am I afraid it won't look good? Not so much as that I won't have the first clue what to do with it. I haven't ever really had a hair cut that involved styling. Also, I can't seem to find a stylist that I like down here.

5. I am so thankful I found a fellow like Roland. He is my perfect companion and even loves me for me nerdly-ness not in spite of it.

6. My parents still have an operational rotary phone in their home. Do you remember how long it takes you to dial a long distance number on one of those babies?

7. I like chocolate. I like it a lot. I recently tried a new restaurant and as part of a dessert I ordered there was chocolate mint soup. It. Was. Awesome. I think it may be my favorite dessert evar.

8. I've tried very hard to like beer and wine, but I just can't seem to do it. Coffee either for that matter. This worries me about traveling to Europe.

I tag only in the you-can-if-you-want-to-but-feel-free-to-ignore-it fashion.

Mote

Blame this on DrJ. Who blames it on...

My earliest memory is… Playing in some really cool portable sandboxes at my Grandma Heidemann’s house where my father grew up in Cleveland.

At high school I… had three anti-cool strikes. I was in band, I was in choir, and I played soccer.

My first relationship was… fun and exciting.

I wish I’d never worn… Those Bermuda shorts I made in home ec.

My mother told me… how to be a good person. Not in words, but she told me nonetheless.

I wish I had... A bajillion dollars (after taxes). Seriously, have you ever thought how cool it would be to have enough money to pay off all your school loans, maybe buy a house, and still be able to donate to all sorts of charities and stuff?

My most humiliating moment was... being in 5th grade and having most of the class do unflattering impressions of me with the teacher not stopping them, then taking me out in the hall and telling me to lighten up.

At home I cook…only a few meals that I know how to cook. Mostly Roland does the cooking because he is way better at it. Now for baking, I’m your gal.

My last meal would be… Probably at the Melting Pot. Especially because dessert is a big pot of melted chocolate for you to dip things in (like a straw – Jason).

I’m very bad at… drawing. Man do I wish I could draw. That would be so cool.

When I was a child… I got so frustrated because I was never going to catch up to Anne, she was always going to be older than me. ;)

The book that changed my life is… I’m not sure a book ever consciously changed my life. I’ve loved a lot of books, think about books I’ve read a lot, and re-read many of them.

It’s not fashionable, but I love… embroidery, sewing, gardening, baking (what century is this again?).

Friends say I am… very far away.

The song I’d like played at my funeral is… There was this choral version of An Irish Blessing – you know “may the road rise up to meet you…” – that I sang a long time ago. I still love it, but I’m not sure how I would find it. Also Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber sung by traditional boys choir type voices – no vibrato. And yes, I’m very picky.

If only I could… get used to living in Florida.

The last big belly laugh I had was… I can’t remember and that’s not good. It was probably at a movie or something.

What I don’t find amusing is… the US government. I’m afraid I have to agree with you there Dr.J

I’m always being asked… What kind of dog is that?

If I wasn’t me… I wouldn’t have found Roland, and that would be sad.

At the moment I’m listening to… me typing this sentence.

My favorite work of art is… I don’t think I have one particular favorite. If I did maybe we would have something hanging over our couch!

If I were a car I’d be… I don’t know very many cars. I’d probably be solid and dependable though, nothing flashy.

I often wonder… what I’m supposed to be doing.

Doo-ta-da-doooo and da-ta-da-daaaa

Lets get this out of the way first thing:

1. I am a certified scuba diver and would love to become a professional diver.

2. I have an extensive background in music, both instrumental and choral.

3. I enjoy Judo (only at a beginner level...so no Jason, I don't want to fight you, you can still kick my ass) although I haven't been able to participate in it for quite a while.

I am not a lesbian (oops, did having a husband give it away?)

4. I like puzzles.

5. I'm crafty in all kinds of ways including; sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, gardening (when I had a bit of earth), baking (no so much with the cooking), building things etc.

We have triumphantly returned (princess waves all around, elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, wrist or whatever). Roland and I just got back from a visit to Disney World with his folks and two of their friends. It was a great time, but it was hard to leave. When we moved down here we knew in the back of our minds that we would get to go home for my sisters wedding and then see Roland's family this past week. My parents are coming down for a visit right after Christmas so at least there is that to look forward to. After that, no plans in the foreseeable future. It was so nice to talk to someone I know.

We also got to visit Disney so that was sweet. The living seas was open this time as we got to see Turtle Time with Crush which is absolutely incredible! This attraction consists of a smallish theater (maybe 100 people? I'm not great at that kind of estimating) and a giant screen at the front that shows a scene underwater. Then Crush (from Finding Nemo) comes along and talks with you. The totally awesome part? He is talking to you, the audience that is in that room. He picks out kids from the audience by appearance (the little dude-ette with the brown hair and red shell with stripes down her fins and so on). Then he takes question from the little ones and asks some of his own. It is very funny! I loved it. I think we went back 3 or 4 times. Definitely a must see...along with Soarin'. And Mickey's PhilharMagic is awesome too, yeah, pretty much the whole place.

We went on a Keys to the Kingdom tour in the Magic Kingdom and learned all sorts of neat stuff and a Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot and learned some nerdly cool stuff about the greenhouses. I can't remember which one, but one of the tour guides said they are going to change Soarin' here in Florida to either be flying over Florida or possibly flying over the world. So they will just have flying over California at Disney Land. Over at MGM we got a chance to see Lights, Motors, Action. Sa-weet. I haven't the foggiest how people can drive cars like that, but it sure is fun to watch. We also heard that they are planning on tearing out the coaster in Space Mountain and replacing it with a new one about a new mission to space, and tearing out the guts of Spaceship Earth (the giant golf ball one) for an update.

We did get to go diving again. I just love it, I come out feeling so relaxed. There were all sorts of people to play with and some great sharks (one almost 9 feet long). The giant sea turtle was being lazy and didn't come out to be seen, but the rays were very playful. I ended up swimming with a school of fish for a while which was way cool. They are still working on the new ride at the front of the Seas pavilion so that was closed off, but the observation deck was open and they have a couple of rehabilitating manatees that were pretty huge (they aren't in the tank you can dive in). They apparently recently got two more dolphins but we didn't see any of the four. The tour leader said they were spending a lot of time in their backstage tank figuring out their new pod pecking order.

Anyway, my thoughts are all jumbled together and not coming out very coherently so I'm going to take a breather. Later, dude!
